CountryStay - Residency & Visa Day Tracker
Effective Date: September 19, 2026
Last Updated: September 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to the CountryStay mobile application
("Application"), available on iOS, developed by the CountryStay Team. By
using the Application, you agree to the collection and use of information
in accordance with this policy.
Information Collection and Use
The Application may collect certain information automatically when you
download and use it, including:
- Your device model and operating system version
- Usage data (features used, screens viewed, session duration)
- App settings and preferences
- Crash reports and diagnostic data for app stability
Travel & Personal Data You Provide
What We Collect
- Trips and stays you add, including countries, arrival and departure dates, and notes (e.g. "Conference in Madrid")
- Your country of residence and the day counts calculated from your history
- Limits and goals you set, such as the Schengen 90/180 rule, per-visit visa limits, or a 183-day residency target
- Upcoming planned trips and expected departure dates
- Passport, visa, and permit details you choose to record in the app
- Trip data you import from CSV files
- A change history of edits made to your trips and records
- Subscription and account information
- Feedback or support messages you send us
How We Use This Data
- To count the days you spend in each country and show them on your Overview, Journey, Calendar, and Route views
- To calculate your progress against residency thresholds and visa limits
- To check whether your planned trips fit within your limits
- To generate PDF reports and CSV exports at your request
- To back up and restore your data if you choose to
- To save your personal settings and preferences
- To improve app performance and feature quality
- To troubleshoot technical issues and enhance the user experience
- To process and manage your subscription
Location Data & Auto-Tracking
Auto-tracking is optional and off unless you turn it on. When enabled,
CountryStay uses your device's location to determine which country you are in, so it can
record your days automatically. You can turn auto-tracking off at any time in the app or in
your device's Location Services settings.
- Location is used to determine the country you are in and record it in your travel history
- Location data is never sold or used for advertising
- Location data is never shared with governments, tax authorities, or employers by us
- You can review, edit, or delete any automatically recorded day
Your Travel Records Are Private
We know travel and residency data is sensitive. Your trip history,
day counts, and passport, visa, and permit records are:
- Stored on your device, and optionally in your own backup
- Encrypted in transit when synced or backed up
- Never sold to third parties
- Never shared with anyone unless you export or share them yourself
- Deletable at any time through the app or by contacting support
Reports & Exports
PDF reports and CSV exports (trips and day-by-day logs) are created on your device when you
request them. Once you share or save an export — for example, sending it to your accountant or
immigration adviser — that copy is outside our control and is handled by whoever receives it.
Third-Party Services
We may use third-party services to help operate and improve the application. These services
may have access to anonymized or aggregated data only, except where needed to provide the
specific service listed.
The Application uses the following third-party services:
- RevenueCat (for subscription management)
- Apple Maps / MapKit (for displaying your route on the globe)
- Apple Analytics / Firebase (for app performance monitoring)
- Crashlytics (for stability reporting and bug tracking)
- iCloud (for backup and restore, if you enable it)
